Yesterday, we met the NPCs at BOMCC, aka the censors.

They all give these NPC responses to the following questions. If you know any of them, ask, and you will see for yourself.

Q1: Where did the Book of Mormon take place?
NPC Answer: Mesoamerica (or Fantasyland, if they use the BYU/CES fantasy maps).
Q2: Where is the hill Cumorah?
NPC Answer: Somewhere in Southern Mexico.
Q3: Haven’t the prophets consistently taught that Cumorah is in New York?
NPC Answer: You’re not supposed to know that.
Q4: I repeat, haven’t the prophets consistently taught that Cumorah is in New York?
NPC Answer: Yes, but they were merely expressing their opinions, and they were wrong because our scholars have said so. The prophets don’t have PhDs in Mesoamerican/Mayan studies.
Q5: Do you believe the scholars instead of the prophets?
NPC Answer: Of course. Don’t you?

As always, I emphasize that on a personal level I really like everyone who is affiliated with Book of Mormon Central Censor. On a professional level I respect their work, and I recognize that they do a lot of good in many ways.
But I can’t ignore the destructive impact of their ongoing repudiation of the consistent, persistent teachings of the prophets about the New York Cumorah.

So it seems not only are they censoring the material. But they are being discriminatory in their hiring practices too.
I heard through the grapevine that they are also strong arming Deseret Book – and other independent LDS book stores not affiliated with Deseret, to not Carry certain particular materials / Books / or displayed artifacts that show evidence for the New York Hill Cumorah, along with The North American Model. This seems to be like a Mafia Style takeover on information and what is being allowed. Mafia Style as in threats and strongarm tactics ( not physical) but financial. Trying to put other little bookstores out of business that might not be a part of the big chain like Deseret which they have now been able to successfully control. Dictator like, as in the act of burning books – symbolically- or a Modern day version of that act – through censorship of not allowing a particular material / book or artifacts to be displayed or be present on the premises of Deseret Book Stores that is not congruent with their agenda.
This is very concerning. What can we regular, average, everyday members of the Church do to bring this concern and awareness to the 1st Presidency? I doubt they realize what is going on. And if they did…. I’m sure they would not approve. A big part of Free Agency is having the knowledge to make an informed decision. They are busy sharing the restored gospel, witnessing of Christ and Making sure the members have access to ordinances & covenants we make in our Church Buildings / Stakes and Temples. I’m sure they are assuming that the scholars are doing their jobs honestly. But this problem MUST be brought to the attention of the 1st presidency. How would you suggest going about this?
