The other day I spent some time with Greg Matsen at CWIC Media. He’s an awesome, well-informed, thoughtful host who covers a range of topics. If you haven’t subscribed to his show, you should.
Here’s the link to the first part of our interview:

We discussed Cumorah, LDS scholarship, and related topics. Greg explains that he has no horse in this race. He just wants to see more open and respectful dialogue on these issues, which is exactly what I want to see.
I’d like everyone, Latter-day Saint or not, to make fully informed decisions on these issues, based on facts and not obscured by M2C/SITH gatekeepers or the critical gatekeepers who also prevent their readers/viewers from having all the facts.
Keep up the good work, Greg!
BTW, if you look closely, you’ll see that my screen says Beverly Neville. It’s not a pseudonym. I was using my wife’s office and forgot to change the name!
My bad…

I’m not a fan of Greg Matsen and CWIC. He does a lot of interesting interviews and has a large following and he is pushing back on woke BYU professors. However, he is a fan of the seer stone in a hat and the Mesoamerican model.
I don’t know why you think that about Greg. He is interested in everyone’s perspective on this. To his credit, he likes to continually learn more about every topic. I hope you agree that people can believe whatever they want; these issues are not a litmus test for being a faithful Latter-day Saint.
We just want people to make informed decisions because, as President Nelson has said, “good inspiration is based upon good information.” Good information ought to include authentic Church history and the teachings of the prophets, IMO. I’m sure you agree with that.
Much of the Church history I discussed in the interview he had never heard before, which is the case with most Latter-day Saints who have relied on the M2C/SITH scholars and their citation cartels for information. All we can do is share good information and let people decide for themselves.
🙂
